Cross Country Move – Day 5

on

Today we ended up with 540 miles and the best part about that is that we are now in Oregon!  Only about 370ish miles left to travel now.  It feels really good to have made it this far and be this close.

We started out the day in Rock Spring, Wyoming and as luck would have it, we found a donut place!  Cowboy Donuts.  Mia and I have a knack for finding local donut places in our travels, this one was really good too.  I had a Bavarian with cream filling which we New Englanders know as a Boston Cream.

Breakfast at the Hampton Inn in Rock Spring, WY was so far the best of the trip so far.  Also, Caleb really has no hesitation about making himself at home when travelling.

After feeling like we spent the previous 2 days only passing through 2 states (really 1.5) a day, today was nice to start in Wyoming, cross into Utah, over into Idaho and right at the end of the day cruise into Oregon.

While we still have a ways to go, it feels good to be this close.  We have a lot more to do with moving in, getting to know the area and just figuring out new bike rides, runs, etc.  This has been a great week so far and it feels like a blur, but it has been fun and I really know now that I need to have mountains and forest in my life.  Some of these states we have passed through would just not be for me.

Finally here is our travel setup for the past 5 days.

Thanks for reading,

-Pete

I’m sure “happy Happy” will set in when you pull into your driveway. It appears you are both hanging in there & so are the kitties. It’s great your vehicles held up to this very long trip.

Welcome to Oregon! 🙂 The Columbia Gorge can be windy this time of year (ok, all year) so be careful from The Dalles to Portland.

I was impressed with your daily mileage, especially the long 640-mile Day 4, but I figured switching driving back and forth…no big deal. But then I see Car #2 today. Wow, good going! You’re going to need an hour or two to rest up after this.
